BICYCLE BEANO CYCLING HOLIDAYS

---

Veggie Walking Weekend – 2 days

In 2007 we added a walking weekend to our usual cycling holidays. We are not doing a walking weekend in 2008, but we might in 2009 – watch this space.

The Upper Wye Valley in Mid Wales is wonderful walking country with open moorland, hidden river gorges, ancient farmsteads, and Iron Age hill forts. This unspoilt landscape is home to red kites, buzzards, kingfishers, skylarks, and even an osprey was spotted recently.

We stay at Trericket Mill in the Wye Valley, 10 miles upriver from Hay-on-Wye. We will do two circular walks in the Radnor Hills and Mynydd Epynt with panoramic views of the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. Saturday's walk will be about 12 miles, and Sunday's walk about 9 miles. The walking will be moderate, with some hill climbing (but not excessive).

Trericket Mill is a beautifully renovated grade II listed Georgian watermill with a flagstone floor, a dining room complete with original mill machinery, and ducks on the stream. The ducks even provide free-range eggs for our breakfast. All the food will be vegetarian with organic and fair trade produce whenever possible.

There's a choice of comfortable accommodation to suit all needs. You can have an en-suite bedroom in the Mill (3-star guest house); or stay in a beautiful spot beside the millstream, either in one of the cosy bunkhouses or camping. Please state choice on reservation form.

Information

The weekend begins with dinner on Friday evening, and ends after tea & cakes on Sunday afternoon. If you want to stay over on Sunday night, B&B is available at the mill.

Price includes accommodation, breakfast, vegetarian packed lunches, afternoon tea after the walks, evening meals, and guide.

The Walking Weekend will be slightly different from our usual cycling holidays – we will walk as a guided group. As we live in Erwood village (1 mile from Trericket Mill) we know the area well, so can adapt the walks to suit the weather conditions. If the weather is hot, we will loiter more!
