Legendary veggie cycling holiday company Bicycle
Beano returns to rural England this summer for a weekend of rides
in Oxfordshire's Vale of the White Horse. Best known for its week-long
Welsh tours, the company promises a whole holiday packed into
a weekend, set in idyllic scenery within easy travelling distance
of London and the Midlands.
"The Vale is one of our favourite bits of England,"
says Beano co-owner Jane Barnes, "it's such a magical place,
with ancient sites shrouded in myth like the giant chalk White
Horse itself and Wayland's Smithy. Then there are the great views,
the rolling countryside and the miles of quiet lanes. We love
having the chance to share it all with other people."
Based in a medieval manor house, the weekend promises
wholesome, tasty vegetarian catering and day-long bike rides with
plenty of stops for pubs, cafes and historic sites. "Basically,"
says Jane, "we'll stop for anything that looks interesting."
Bicycle Beano is a tiny company with 28 years' experience
running cycle tours and has built up a dedicated following, with
some returning year after year for its unique mixture of leisurely
riding with good food, drink and conversation.
This year's tour programme also includes a weekend
in Shropshire and a week exploring the backroads of Snowdonia.

Note to Editors:
Bicycle Beano is Jane Barnes & Rob Green. We started organising
cycling holidays in 1982, after working for Friends of the Earth
etc. The word 'Beano' means an annual
holiday, a feast, party, and a jolly good time. The food is vegetarian,
and organic whenever possible. The holidays have a friendly non-macho
atmosphere and about 60% of the participants are women.
