Travelling by bus from Bangor to Nantlle

Nantlle is pronounced Nant-thla (Nant-cla will sort of do). Station is Gorsaf in Welsh.

Catch Arriva bus #5 or #X5 from Bangor railway station to Caernarfon bus station, and change to the Silver Star (Seren Arian in Welsh) bus #80 to Nantlle. Ask the driver to put you off by the phone box in the first half of Nantlle village (opposite the "Plas Baladeulyn, Trigonos" driveway) – the offical bus stop is 100 meters before the phone box.

Bus from Bangor to Caernarfon:-

Opperated by: Arriva. Number: #5 and #X5 (alternate). From: Bangor railway station (stop H).

Departs Bangor: 14.07 (#X5), 14.27 (#5), 14.37, 14.57, 15.07, 15.27, 15.37, 15.57, 16.07, 16.27, 16.37, 16.57, 17.07, 17.27, 17.37, 17.57, 18.07, 18.32, 19.02, 19.37, 2007, 2037, etc.
Arrives Caernarfon (stop A): 28 minutes later.

Bus from Caernarfon to Nantlle:-

Opperated by: Silver Star. Number: #80. From: Caernarfon bus station (stop C).

Departs Caernarfon: 15.00, 15.40, 16.40, 17.35, 19.15 (last bus)
Arrives Nantlle: 15.30, 16.10, 17.10, 18.05, 19.45

There is also a Silver Star #80 bus from Caernarfon bus station (stop C) which only goes as far as Bro Silyn housing estate, which is about 1.5 miles before Nantlle (see map on back of paper info sheet):-
Departs Caernarfon: 16.15, 17.05, 18.30, 22.15 (last bus).
Arrives Bro Silyn: 16.40, 17.30, 18.55, 22.35.
Plus the 20.15 bus only goes as far as Talysarn (arrives 20.33).

Timetables can are available from the Gwynedd Council website at www.gwynedd.gov.uk. Downloads are on the the "Gwynedd Council" section of the website, not the "Visit Snowdonia" section. Click on "Gwynedd Council" > "Quick Links...Public Transport" (dropdown menu at top of page) > "timetables" > "Bus services 09 April - 02 October" (on left-hand menu bar – this gave us the summer 2006 timetables, but will change when they add the summer 2007 timetables). Then we downloaded "80 Nantlle - Caernarfon" (79k pdf) and "5 & X5 Caernarfon - Bangor - Llandudno (from 28 May 2006)" (1.12Mb pdf. Note: the "5A" does not run on a Saturday).
