Step back in time to explore this little bit of England and see what made the 17th century angler Izaak Walton so excited about the River Meon in his book 'The Compleat Angler'; and what inspired the Rev. Gilbert White of Selborne to pioneer the study of natural history in his book 'The Natural History and Antiquities of Selborne'. Famous also for being the place where the first rules of modern cricket were written down in 1774 at The Bat and Ball pub in the village of Hambledon.
